About
Discover a world of possibilities
Welcome to Piccolini’s Place, a brand new long day care and early learning centre in Churchill designed to nurture curiosity, creativity, and connection. Our philosophy is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to early learning, which views every child as capable, confident, and full of potential.

Our Philosophy
We see children as confident, capable learners who are driven by wonder. Each moment from exploring the garden to sharing a story is an opportunity to learn, connect, and create. Our educators follow the interests of each child, designing experiences that spark imagination, encourage independence, and build strong foundations for lifelong learning.
At Piccolini’s Place, the environment is our third teacher. Our spaces are thoughtfully designed to inspire exploration and creativity, filled with natural light, open-ended materials, and calming, nature-inspired design. These environments encourage collaboration, reflection, and a deep respect for the world around us.
We also believe that learning happens within relationships. Families are our partners in education, and together we create a nurturing community where children feel safe, seen, and celebrated. Strong, trusting relationships between educators, children, and families form the heart of our centre.
Our philosophy embraces the Hundred Languages of Children, recognising that children express their thoughts and emotions in countless ways: through art, movement, play, storytelling, and imagination. We honour each of these “languages” by providing time, space, and encouragement for every child to share their voice.
At Piccolini’s Place, learning is joyful, creative, and deeply connected, because when children are free to explore and belong, they truly thrive.

Our Approach
Inspired by the Reggio Emilia Philosophy. At Piccolini’s Place, our approach to early learning is built on four key principles that reflect the heart of the Reggio Emilia philosophy: curiosity, connection, creativity, and care.
1
Child-Led Learning
We believe children are capable, curious learners who thrive when they take an active role in their own learning journey. Our educators listen carefully, observe deeply, and design experiences that follow each child’s interests, encouraging exploration, independence, and joyful discovery.
2
The Environment as the Third Teacher
Our purpose built centre has been designed to inspire creativity and calm. Natural light, open-ended materials, and nature-inspired spaces invite children to wonder, experiment, and connect with the world around them.
We see the environment not just as a backdrop, but as an active teacher that supports growth and imagination.
3
Relationships & Community
Learning happens through relationships. At Piccolini’s Place, we value collaboration between children, educators, and families. We build strong, respectful partnerships and create a warm community where everyone feels supported and included.
4
The Hundred Languages of Children
Every child has their own unique way of expressing themselves, through art, movement, storytelling, play, and imagination. We celebrate these “hundred languages,” giving children the time, tools, and freedom to communicate their ideas and emotions in meaningful ways.
